My wife and I would like to replace the glass in our coffee and end tables with something other than glass. I thought this might be something that other people have done in the past but I cannot find any info on the net. I thought of using 20" X 20" porcelain tile but it may be too heavy and Lowes does not have a wet saw big enough to cut it (you would think they would but they don't - at least at my local Lowes). I'm looking for something light but sturdy. Other suggestions have been fiberboard covered with some sort of leather cover. I'd really appreciate some info if anyone has done this or has good ideas. Thanks!

I have some candle wax that spilled onto a glass coffee table and sat overnight. I'm looking for the best way to remove the candle wax without damaging the coffee table?

i have peeled off the labels & it has left a couple of big adhesive patches that i cant get off...I cant use a scourer as they are glass & dont want to scratch the surface. anybody have any ideas how i can remove the adhesive without ruining the tables? i'd appreciate any serious answers... thank you. edit: i did try soapy water..the top of the label came off...leaving that horrible glue - so far though..thanks for some great answers...going to try some of these ideas!

We just bought a really nice coffee table at a super-big discount because there are a couple small scratches on the glass. You can only see them at a certain angle or if you look close, but they annoy me anyway and it would be nice to find a way to repair them somehow! Any suggestions?

A year ago I bought a really nice glass top coffee table, But it's getting small hair thin scratches. I try to use coasters and everything, but sometimes things just get placed there from guests or my boyfriend and scratches are left behind.

Which one scratches less often? Which one has less upkeep? The ones I am looking at are the same price. Which one is a better choice and why? btw the glass on the nesting table i am looking at is tempered, much stronger, maybe that helps make a difference?

i have a coffee table that is wood with a glass top and i hate how loud it is when i put something on top of it and i'm paranoid to break it. but i really love the look of all acrylic nesting tables in a modern room and am debating about purchasing them, but i wonder if i and my clumsy guest friends would be too scared to use them. the acrylic things that i own are not furniture but they are pretty indestructible. opinions? insight?

We're getting new coffeee and end tables for our living room. My husband thinks we can throw the glass in the dumpster and sit the tables next to the dumpster. Is there protocol for this, a safer way to dispose of the glass?
