How should we dispose of the glass from our coffee table and end tables?
We're getting new coffeee and end tables for our living room. My husband thinks we can throw the glass in the dumpster and sit the tables next to the dumpster. Is there protocol for this, a safer way to dispose of the glass?

Put them out, whole, by the Dumpsters and someone will take them in.
If you have a large metal rollaway dumpster, the kind that businesses use, just chuck it in there. Preferably when it's empty so it will smash into a bunch of tiny pieces. If you're really concerned about it being a potential hazard, smash it on the ground and sweep up the pieces, then throw them out. Usually glass table tops are made of safety glass and break without shattering, but obviously you should be careful doing this.

That being said, I agree that it would be better to give it away than throw it away.
Panama Joe is right. If you can put them outside intact why not?

My sister in law put her old living room furniture out at the end of her driveway with a sign "free furniture" and it was gone in a few hours. It was in very good condition, immaculate, and a great set for someone in need.
